Magnolia Market
So you’ve decided to take a trip to Magnolia Market or maybe you are deciding if the trip is worth your time. If you are even considering it, you should totally go.
Here is where you should start!
Magnolia Bakery
The Silos Baking Company has to be your first stop! It opens at 9am and there will be a line. It’s that good! The line moves really fast so don’t be discouraged by it. The staff are so nice and very fast too. Their hours may change from time to time so be sure to check their website prior to planning your arrival time. I have linked their menu HERE also so you can look through ahead of time to have an idea of what you might like to try. There is so much to choose from…. good luck!
My daughter and I were able to look through the menu while we stood in line using the QR code they had available.
When your turn comes to enter the Bakery you will not be underwhelmed. It looks and smells amazing!
Look at the brownie cookies and yes…. that is a shiplap cupcake…… it’s a vanilla cupcake with vanilla buttercream frosting.
Side note: Don’t worry if you have trouble in the heat because they have the line covered and it was very comfortable.
We chose to try the Nutty Cinnamon Roll and the Prize Pig (savory bacon, cheddar scratch made biscuit with chives) and they were AMAZING! Honestly, the biscuit was to die for. It’s also a great opportunity to share the amazing food with your family or friends.
As you can see in the main picture at the beginning of this section, my daughter got quite a bit to share with some of her friends! Yep, my friends, that’s right… the bags are full! Safe to say there were very pleased we went to Magnolia as well.
If you are a fan of Fixer Upper or Chip & Joanna Gaines then it probably doesn’t surprise you that the best part of being on the Magnolia grounds is the atmosphere. The architecture, decor, plants, and even music are all relaxing and enjoyable for everyone.
Magnolia Market Shop
As you enter the Magnolia Market grounds you are greeted with so many amazing sights. First, be sure to head over to Magnolia Seed and Supply. Be sure to take your time and appreciate the serenity of the grounds leading to this quaint little shop.
One of my favorite things was this rustic wash basin that sits just inside the garden area as you enter the garden shop. I love the textures, colors and general look of this. I will be looking for an opportunity to create something similar in my own little urban homestead.
The Magnolia Seed & Supply store is absolutely adorable and we weren’t at all surprised to find that the grounds are very well kept. Don’t forget to take inspirational pictures for your own home or garden as you work your way through the grounds. It is easy to get caught up in it all and miss opportunities to capture inspiration for your own home projects.
Just to the right of the Seed and Supply store is a rustic yet refined greenhouse. It’s small and quaint which makes it that much more appealing to all of you home gardeners out there. There are a ton of opportunities to check it all out and look for some opportunities to create that small town Texas feel in your own garden or greenhouse.
Magnolia Silos
As you make your way out of the garden you can’t help but appreciate the silo view from this side! You can get a photo here too! The possibilities are endless. Having had a photography business for several years I wanted to take pictures of literally everything…. and my guess is that you will too.
There are so many great things to take in as you make your way to the main shop at Magnolia Market. My suggestion is to hit the cute little shops at the back of the property after going in and seeing the old church that has been restored. It is a beautiful cool place where you can just sit and get some rest.
While we were there some families were giving their kids the opportunity to enjoy a snack in the cooler environment, away from the sun. There was also an older gentleman taking advantage of the opportunity to catch a quick nap. Regardless, it is worth seeing and be sure to look at the light fixtures they added! They are AMAZING… I will be looking for some that are similar in my own home renovations.
If you are looking for inspiration on your home or office projects ~ or maybe you just love Joanna’s style~ you will be truly impressed by the entire campus. The best part is you can do it all and enjoy it in a day.
Magnolia Market Restaurant
I was really surprised to see all of the options on this property for dining. There are quite a few choices (the bakery to name the first we took advantage of) but the food trucks that are on the grounds are really popular. People come in from work on their lunch just to grab a bite to eat and some of the sweet tea which is really amazing. Fun fact: the tea comes in a mason jar glass with a lid that doubles as a souvenir from your trip!
The food trucks hadn’t opened yet when I grabbed this pic but you can see there are quite a few and there are couple more that aren’t in the picture. They have everything from pizza, burgers, BBQ, asian inspired bowls, a grilled cheese truck and more!
There is even a very vintage-chic food truck call Maggie’s Sweet Shoppe that serves baked goods from the Silo Bakery and is absolutely adorable. The thing that is important to mention is that the entire place is set up to enjoy quiet time, enjoy time with your family and kids and there are spots everywhere to sit down and relax.
There are quite a few covered areas that protect you from the heat of the Texas sun and the general feeling as soon as you walk through the gate is just comforting.
The sit down-inside restaurant on the grounds is Magnolia Table. They have a lot of options and allow you to enjoy a few delicious desserts. The Strawberry Shortcake and Gaines Brothers Burger have rave reviews! See their menu HERE. They only serve breakfast and lunch but if you go their website you can see what the wait time is for walk-ins.
Magnolia Market Furniture
The blaringly obvious pics from my trip are in the shops themselves. Whether it is the little shop geared for men specifically with a Chip flare or the many cute boutique style shops, there is much to be seen and some amazing gifts to be bought here!
The rugs are to die for! They are placed around the shops so be sure to watch for them. The prices are very reasonable and the colors and options are great. Magnolia Home has the most options in one place.
My absolute favorite is Magnolia Home! The displays give great ideas for how you can use the merchandise in your own home or office and items are available for purchase there as well. The best part is that you can purchase and have your purchases shipped.
Magnolia Press Coffee Co.
Before you leave Magnolia be sure to stop by Magnolia Press Coffee Co. and get your favorite drink to go. My absolute favorite is a dirty chai with oatmilk. Of course on a hot day they have plenty of iced options for you. While you wait they have water for you to enjoy and cool off with. They also sell their Magnolia Press Coffee Co. shirts in the shop (the only place) and they are very nice.
On your way out stop by the #MilestoMagnolia photo op and grab a fun pic to remember your trip! It’s just to the left as you get ready to go through the main gate. Placed right in front of the silos the backdrop is awesome and for me…. this is the most important part of the trip. As a part of living a fulfilled life take time capture moments with the people you love.
I was so blessed to get to experience this trip with my amazing daughter. We laughed …. she laughed at me alot (I was soaking in the inspiration all day long) and generally just enjoyed the time together. That is what trips with others are all about! Making memories, enjoying each other’s company and seizing every opportunity to connect with those we love and care about.
Tips for your Trip to Magnolia Market
- Parking: There is a ton of free parking around but you have to drive a bit unless you are the lucky soul that gets one of the ten spots out front. Great news though, there is a large parking lot right next door that you can park in for $10 and it was well worth it!
- Hotels: There are hotels around but none that are really within walking distance. The closest one is Hotel Indigo Baylor, which has great reviews and a restaurant in the hotel.
- VRBO: There are several VRBO homes that are within three blocks of Magnolia that are adorable! Consider checking those out.
- Shopping: If you didn’t get enough shopping time in the Magnolia Silos campus, no worries! There are quaint little shops all around it. Everything from antique shops, boutiques, odds and ends shops and more.
- What to wear: Whatever you want! Really… it’s gorgeous and paved so it’s easy walking. I personally go for my Blowfish sneaks and a tank so I’m comfortable. But, you do you! Must-Have for Foodies!
If you are a foodie, I had to share this GEM of a eatery with you! Franklin Ave Mac House is without a doubt the BEST mac n cheese I have EVER had. Now, they do have a gluten free option which we took advantage of, but it’s not exactly healthy. If you are looking for a bit of a splurge and a delicious meal….. you have to stop here! They are super nice and it is a drive through in a little tiny building. It takes a few minutes but it’s fresh and you can taste it! You can bet it is SO worth the wait! Let me know what you think of this great eatery if you stop by!
Most of all have fun! Enjoy the trip and let us know how it went!
